ZEN AND THE ART OF CARING

Using Mindfulness and Zen in Health care

You are invited to attend ongoing workshops specifically designed for medical and behavioral health professionals. Come and learn how to counteract stress, prevent burn-out and improve compassion in a collegial and supportive environment.

We will practice silent meditation and have lively discussions about practical ways of using mindfulness at work and in our daily lives. Suggested reading: Training in Compassion by Normal Fischer.

Schedule for December

Thursday December 10: 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM   Silent practice

Zazen – Kinhin     followed by a 15 min question & answer period

Fee: A $15.00 donation suggested.

All donations are given to the Stone Creek Zen Center.

Led by Edmée Danan, MD, a psychiatrist and psychotherapist with over 25 years of experience.  She has worked at Sonoma County Psychiatric Emergency Services, had a private practice, and is currently a consulting psychiatrist with West County Health Centers and with Vida (HIV Program). She is interested in exploring the impact of  “non-medical factors” on Health and the many ways Zen Buddhist perspective enriches the practice of medicine and psychotherapy.  Edmée has practiced Zen since 1981 and is a senior lay practitioner at Stone Creek Zen Center.
