April 10 2017 Board Meeting Notes

  • We have a new ethics committee with revised guidelines in the works.
  • Recent zendo theft gave rise to increased security issues.
  • Budgets and plans need to be formulated for garden and building needs.
  • Outreach to other religious communities in addition to activist meetings due to the political climate is ongoing and robust.

September 7, 2015 Board Meeting Highlights

• Welcome Susan Musgrove and Kathy Chamberlin will become new board members as of October 2015

• Major push for Capital Campaign planning process.  Subcommittees to me and discuss.

• Directory coming out shortly 54 members and growing!

• Annual Appeal has brought in over $ 11,000 thank everyone for their pledges

• Sesshin next week in Olema 14 attendees

• Fond adieu to Carolyn and Cindy who will step down as board members, but will remain active in various capacities and service to the Zen Center.

September 9, 2014 Board Meeting Highlights

• Annual Appeal now officially ending – Over 85% member participation and $13,800 pledged / received. We will still gratefully accept any donations to the Annual Appeal through the end of the year.

• Rummage sale for Saturday, September 13th in connection with the GLC logistics explored, planned and refined. See sign up sheet for details.

• E-script is growing and we encourage everyone to participate where/when it makes sense. To date about $250 received and 20 participants. Look for links on SCZC website. Consider using if not already doing so.

• We are looking for a new board member to be seated beginning October. This is a two year commitment and an excellent opportunity for being more involved with the Zen Center.

August 12, 2014 Board Meeting Highlights

  • Annual Appeal going well, buddha will be updated to reflect amounts pledges. So far about 25 members have responded with over $6,000 pledged.
  • Jude will be creating and monitoring an activity calendar with all Zen Center Activities to help coordinate, space out announcements and direct energy toward specific activities.
  • We need volunteers to help and bring rummage for the SCZC and Graton Day Labor Center- Rummage and Taco Sale. Please see the sign up sheet in the SCZC lobby. Bring your rummage, including clothing to the Zen Center not more than one week before the event which will be Saturday September 13, 2014 from 9 to 4. We need folks to work the sale, help with set up / clean up, including moving sale items from the Zen Center to the CLG parking lot. We also need folks to spread the word – see the flyers / leaflets in the lobby.
  • We will be adding a new governing page to the website to help you be better informed about the board and it’s related activities.
  • We will be revising the facility use (formally rental) guidelines – look for further information coming shortly.
