Zen in Health Care

Using Mindfulness and Zen in Health care

You are invited to attend ongoing workshops specifically designed for medical and behavioral health professionals. Come and learn how to counteract stress, prevent burn-out and improve compassion in a collegial and supportive environment.

We will practice silent meditation and have lively discussions about practical ways of using mindfulness at work and in our daily lives. Suggested reading: Training in Compassion by Normal Fischer.

Open to anyone working in medicine and mental health.

Led by Edmée Danan, MD, a psychiatrist and psychotherapist with over 25 years of experience.  She has worked at Sonoma County Psychiatric Emergency Services, had a private practice, and is currently a consulting psychiatrist with West County Health Centers and with Vista (HIV Program). She is interested in exploring the impact of  “non-medical factors” on health and the many ways Zen Buddhist perspective enriches the practice of medicine and psychotherapy.  Edmée has practiced Zen since 1981 and is a senior lay practitioner at Stone Creek Zen Center.
